Painting the never-ending fence. Why Spend a Day Volunteering at The Sanctuary?
Volunteers provide The Sanctuary with additional help to complete a variety of work projects that may be too numerous or time consuming for regular staff to complete. As the saying goes, “many hands make light work.” You’ll also have the pleasure of spending the day with other like-minded volunteers and TES staff.

No matter what task you are assigned during your Volunteer Day, you can rest assured that your donation of time and energy will make the Sanctuary a better home for our elephants.

Will I Get to See Elephants?
Volunteers will not have any direct contact with the elephants. As we are a true Sanctuary, the elephants are never put on display. If the volunteer work project is happening in viewing proximity of the elephants and the elephants choose to be seen, then so be it. There is no guarantee that volunteers will see elephants.

What is the Schedule?

  • 8:00 AM orientation to The Sanctuary at our Welcome Center in Downtown Hohenwald, TN.
  • 9:00 AM – Noon work projects
  • Noon – 12:30 PM Brown bag lunch
  • 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM Complete work projects and depart.

How Many People Will I Be Working With?
Due to needs and safety concerns, we’ll limit each volunteer day roster to twelve individuals. This group will be directly supervised by TES staff at all times.

Can I Bring Someone With Me?
