Signs of summer's imminent arrival are upon us in Tennessee. Accompanied by the loud chorus of cicadas, to which the elephants seem unfazed, they have taken to exploring the depths of their habitats by night and engaging in cooler activities by day.
Following a recent summer rainstorm, the elephants of Africa Barn emerged covered in mud! Tange, in particular, was caught in the act, indulging in a large mud bath with flapping ears. With strategic kneels and expert trunk maneuvers, she covered herself with soft mud from a sprawling wallow. Each toss ensured a delightful mud coating from head to back, with her trunk adding the perfect finishing touch by draping mud across her face.
At Asia Habitat, Sissy and Nosey have been spending many of their days together, sharing space in the habitat and grazing alongside one another. Recently, Staff witnessed Sissy using Nosey's ears and face to scratch herself, a great sign of their closeness to one another.
