We invite you to Party for the Planet with us this Earth Day by joining The Sanctuary, in collaboration with Lewis County and the Lewis County Chamber of Commerce, for a community-wide "Trashercize" cleanup event on April 22nd!

When: Saturday, April 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. CDT
Where: The Elephant Discovery Center | 27 East Main Street, Hohenwald, TN, 38462

Meet at the Retired Elephant in the back of The Discovery Center's Outdoor Classroom, across from the city parking lot! Bags and supplies will be provided for volunteers, and any collected trash/recycling can be dropped back at The Discovery Center for disposal.

Exciting prizes and incentives will be offered by The Sanctuary, Lewis County government, the Lewis County Chamber of Commerce, and more!

Party for the Planet is one of North America's largest celebrations for our earth, beginning on Earth Day and running through Endangered Species Day in May and World Oceans Day in June. More than 120 sanctuaries, zoos, and aquariums across the country are participating.

Elephants are a keystone species and are vital in keeping their environment thriving. Like elephants, humans are a keystone species and have an enormous impact on the ecosystem, carrying a great responsibility to keep the planet healthy for all. Follow the elephants’ lead and help make our impact on the environment a positive one. There is no better way to contribute to a cleaner and healthier planet than by collaborating with members of your community to tackle waste and remove litter from our lands and waterways. All are welcome!

Can’t make it to Hohenwald? We encourage you to take action wherever you live. Start or engage in a community cleanup in your area and help us protect this beautiful planet we share with elephants.

The Sanctuary’s elephant habitats are closed to the public. Therefore, there will be no viewing or interactions with the elephants during this event.
