My Elephant Odyssey: Dr. Caitlin O'Connell Films Documentary

The Sanctuary is excited to share news from one of our long-time international partners, Dr. Caitlin O’Connell, from Utopia Scientific.

This summer, Caitlin will return to Etosha National Park in Namibia to finish filming My Elephant Odyssey, an independent documentary that highlights the rich social lives of elephants whose stories are so similar to our own narratives of love and loss. We are excited that two Sanctuary Staff members will be able to join her in Namibia to help with this effort.

For 30 years, Caitlin has studied the complex culture and behavioral nuances of desert elephants. By educating as many people as possible as to the social intelligence of elephants and how their complex family lives and capacity for emotion mirror our own, Caitlin believes this film will help persuade the general public to work to save these majestic mega-herbivores from the brink of extinction.
