Thank You, Appalachian State Student Volunteers

The Elephant Sanctuary wants to express gratitude to the students and staff who dedicate their time and energy to supporting The Elephant Sanctuary. Every spring, we are fortunate to host groups of college students as part of Alternative Spring Break programs.

These students choose to spend their spring break not on traditional vacations, but by volunteering at The Sanctuary, where they donate their time, gain valuable insights into elephant care, and learn about our mission to provide a refuge for elephants in need.

This year, a group of eight students from Appalachian State University in North Carolina spent a week working alongside our dedicated Staff. Throughout their time here, they gained hands-on experience and knowledge to take back to their campus communities. Appalachian State has been sending volunteers to The Sanctuary during spring break for over a decade, building a meaningful and lasting partnership.

During their week of service, the students had the opportunity to participate in a variety of meaningful tasks, including cutting bamboo, preparing enrichment items for the elephants, cleaning barns, making hay nets, and learning about the importance of conservation efforts. Their hard work and enthusiasm contributed significantly to the ongoing efforts of The Sanctuary, and we are incredibly grateful for their support.

We truly appreciate the time, effort, and passion these students bring to our mission, and we look forward to continuing this opportunity in the years to come.
