Update from International Partner: Elephants Without Borders

As part of our 2022 international collaborations, The Elephant Sanctuary has partnered with Elephant Without Borders in Botswana on a very special project: providing protection and care for orphaned elephants as they transition to a fully natural environment in the elephant range in preparation for release into the wild.

We wanted to share with our supporters a very special update on three orphan elephant calves, Panda, Tuli and Boipuso, who have been under the care of Elephants Without Borders at their facility in Botswana since they were just a few months old. Recently, the three transitioned to the next phase of their rehabilitation with the help of their caregivers, to a much larger, more remote natural habitat, gaining independence toward their eventual release and adaptation back into the wild.

“We know it is for their best interest for them to transition into strong, adapted, rehabilitated elephants in preparation for their return into the wild lands of Africa. Our hearts will miss them near us, but our minds are relieved in knowing that we gave them our best efforts and can watch their successful adaptation from afar.” — Elephants Without Borders
