Winters in Tennessee are most often mild, so Staff and elephants were surprised recently to experience a "snow day". Some of the elephants took time to explore while others chose to stay inside.
Asian elephants Ronnie and Minnie ventured out to forage in the snow together, with Ronnie spending time munching a donated Christmas tree before the pair slowly made their way back indoors.
Artie and Osh took a different approach, while Caregivers encouraged the two bulls to explore the outdoors by placing their favorite snacks just outside the barn. Artie wasted no time, grabbing his cantaloupe, quickly scooping it into his mouth, and heading straight back inside. Osh, however, took only a few steps into the snow before retreating to the warmth of his heated barn, leaving his oranges untouched. This week, everyone has been glad to see that the warm weather has returned!
