EleAmbassador Spotlight: Meet Sadie

As part of Elephant Awareness Month, August 12th was World Elephant Day, a big day for everyone (human and elephant) at The Sanctuary.

This year, The Elephant Discovery Center hosted Trunk Trivia, in-person and online, to celebrate World Elephant Day. From obscure elephant biology to conservation, the questions were packed with fun elephant knowledge. Supporters from all over our community and the globe participated, showing us some impressive elephant expertise. If you missed our Trunk Trivia event, don't worry: You can test your knowledge here!

Though we had many impressive scores in person and online, one of the highest went to someone who also happens to be one of our biggest supporters, Sadie! Sadie has been an active participant with The Elephant Sanctuary since age five. She has continued to spread awareness about elephants and The Sanctuary throughout her community as part of our EleAmbassador program and has contributed to the care of each of our elephants through our Adopt an Elephant program.

"The Sanctuary means so much to Sadie. She loves that the elephants can live out the rest of their lives roaming many acres, doing what elephants love to do," says Sadie's mother, Cyndi. "Her favorite elephant at The Sanctuary is Tange. Sadie and Tange's birthdays are 12 days apart. Tange was the first elephant Sadie adopted."

Sadie looks forward to volunteering at The Sanctuary one day and has big plans for starting her very own animal rescue!
