Join The Elephant Sanctuary on Saturday, October 15, for The Tennessee STEAM Festival kick-off event, “STEAM-A-Palooza!"
This year, The Sanctuary is honored to be a part of The Tennessee STEAM Festival, which brings science, technology, engineering, art, and math to life at events across the state. The festival aspires to build interest and excitement in STEAM, and cultivate the next generation of citizen and professional science advocates and practitioners by leveraging local partnerships across the region. Science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) will come to life at events and activities across the state during the 6th annual Tennessee STEAM Festival, taking place Oct. 14-23, 2022. The Festival was founded by the Discovery Center at Murfree Spring and incorporates events hosted by a wide range of museums, schools, community centers, and other attractions.
Stop in at The Elephant Discovery Center in downtown Hohenwald, Tennessee, to learn all about elephants, how to help in elephant conservation, and create a fun, recycled craft or two! We will have stationed activities around The Discovery Center, including a conservation letter writing station, elephant footprint crafts, and a recycled elephant mask.
"We are excited to team up with organizations here in Tennessee to talk about the importance of STEAM for children and families," says Laura Roddy, The Elephant Sanctuary's Education Manager. "One of the activities we see may spark the next child to want to be an astronaut, a scientist, or even an Elephant Caregiver. We were so excited when the Discovery Center at Murfree Springs asked us to be a part of such a fun event and to help encourage learning throughout Tennessee."
During this time, The Elephant Discovery Center's museum and exhibit space will be opened to the public for extra exploration!
When: Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm CST
Where: The Elephant Discovery Center - 27 East Main Street, Hohenwald, TN 38462
