Thank you to all those who have expressed concern for the elephants in light of the hurricanes making landfall in the southern United States.
So far, it's still sunny in middle Tennessee. The Sanctuary is expecting to see some heavy rains Tuesday-Thursday, but nothing too severe. As of Sunday, the National Hurricane Center projected up to four inches of rain across much of Tennessee from Irma.
Although many of the elephants seem to enjoy spending time in the rain, they always have the option of returning to the barns for shelter.
Update 9/12/17: All's well at The Sanctuary. We're getting some light rain, but no serious or damaging winds. The storm has shifted farther West, so we're missing the bulk of it.
