The 2023 Year End Campaign has officially kicked off and will go through December 31st!
As autumn progresses in Tennessee, with mostly warm days and crisp nights, the Staff at The Elephant Sanctuary observe our elephant residents maximizing time to explore their environments — individually and often together, too. Our newest arrival, Donna, an African elephant who came here in September, has been interacting over fence lines with curiosity and bravery while meeting fellow African elephants and long time residents Flora, Tange, and Sukari. This demonstrated interest in companionship, and opportunities for socialization between animals that would naturally live in communal herds in the wild, are important factors when owners decide to send their elephants to The Sanctuary.
